Gusseted Bag

gusseted bag

A bag with side gussets that create a more voluminous, stable shape.

Gusseted bags are often confused with flat-bottom bags. The difference is that a flat-bottom bag has a clear flat base and compacted product. Ordinary pillow bags do not stand upright easily, while side-gusseted packages are easy to place on store shelves.

The bag has three seals: two horizontal seals and one vertical longitudinal seal, either fin or lap. The film can be polypropylene or polyethylene, with different laminated materials also possible. With the right option, the packaging machine forms gusseted bags from roll film.

The word "gusset" comes from Old French and is often used for wedge-shaped fabric inserts that reinforce or shape clothing.
